Design Data Table 2.0.0

A new spreadsheet and game-data workspace, and a new home at Ternlume.

Design Data Table 2.0.0 brings a major update to the Unity editor experience: a shared workspace for everyday spreadsheets and typed game data. Alongside this update, our tools now have a new home and publisher identity: Ternlume.

Version 2.0.0 is being prepared for the Unity Asset Store. Please check the Asset Store listing for the currently available version.

A workspace for your spreadsheets

Open and edit supported XLSX and CSV files directly inside Unity. Work across multiple worksheets with a spreadsheet ribbon, document navigation, per-file windows and a bottom document shelf. Window sizing and saved placement help keep your workspace organized.

Selection and editing have expanded with noncontiguous ranges, copy and cut, special paste, fill, find and replace, wildcard search, sorting, filtering, frozen panes and merged-cell editing.

More expressive data, within a documented scope

The update expands supported formulas with relative and absolute references, cross-sheet references, defined names, dependency calculation and dynamic arrays. Cell formatting includes supported fonts, alignment, fills, borders, number formats, conditional formatting and data validation.

Supported charts, images and shapes can be previewed and edited. Object properties and cell formatting now share a consistent layout with category navigation and fixed Apply controls. These features cover a documented subset; Design Data Table does not promise complete Microsoft Excel compatibility.

From a worksheet to typed game data

Register XLSX sources as game data, configure generated-output paths and validate typed values. The existing C# and binary runtime generation workflows are retained, with ScriptableObject export added in this release.

CSV import and export, C# generation, runtime binary data, encryption, fast ID lookup, table themes, Undo/Redo and basic search already existed in the 1.0.1 package. Version 2.0.0 retains or expands these capabilities rather than introducing them for the first time.

Recovery, diagnostics and documentation

Before upgrading

The recorded verification environment is Windows with Unity 6000.0.83f1. Back up your project before updating. Migration from the original Unity 2021.3 package has not been verified.

XLS files, macros and encrypted workbooks are unsupported. Native Excel round trips, macOS, IL2CPP, other render pipelines and every interactive UI path have not been fully validated. Please review the supported scope in the documentation before choosing a workflow.

Earlier releases

1.0.1 fixed the table searcher in older Unity editor versions and repositioned menus for easier access. 1.0.0 was the initial release.

Thank you for building with our tools. Ternlume continues the same goal: practical tools and clear workflows, with more room for the work you want to do.
